You are here:  ePayments

For Students:

To make an online payment you must first log in to MySiena.

After you login you should see the My Tools portlet on the right-hand side of the page.  If you do not see the My Tools portlet, click on the Home tab at the top of MySiena.

Locate the section of the My Tools portlet labeled Paying for College and click on Charges, Account Balances, and ePayments.  The My Account Info page will be displayed.

Click on the CashNet ePayments link.  You will be redirected to our authorized payment provider CASHNet. Please be patient, as it may take up to 10 seconds before CASHNet initially loads.

For Parents and 3rd Parties

In order for a parent or 3rd party to make an online payment to a student's account, the student must first authorize access by creating a parent PIN.

To create a parent PIN, have the student login to CASHNet using the instructions above.  Once CASHNet is loaded the student must click on the Add New link next to the Parent PINs box and follow the instruction on the screen.  The parent will receive an email notice from CASHNet once the PIN is created.

If you already have a PIN you can login by visiting CASHNet ePayments. If you do not remember your CASHNet login information, the student can reset it for you.  (Siena Heights does not not have the ability to reset parent login information on CASHNet.)

What is CASHNet?

CASHNet allows students to make secure online payments to their account by electronic check, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. A convenience fee of 2.75% will be added to payments made by a credit/debit card. (Due to restrictions imposed by VISA, VISA cards cannot be used.) Students can avoid the convenience fee by using an electronic check to have the payment deducted from their checking account.

How do I login to CASHNet?

For students to make an online payment or set up an installment payment plan you must first log in to MySiena. On the right-hand side of the page you will see My Tools, under Paying for College, click on Charges, Account Balances and ePayments then click on CASHNet ePayments link.

Why is VISA not accepted?

VISA rules do not allow fees that are a percentage of the transaction. VISA only allows a set fee, and the University did not feel that a set fee was fair to students. Because of the disadvantage of set fees, especially with smaller payments, the University determined that a percentage fee was the best option to use for online credit card payments.

Can I use my debit card in CASHNet?

Yes, but CASHNet will treat it like a credit card and the 2.75% convenience fee will be added to the amount paid. The better option would be to use e-Check. You do not need your debit card to use e-Check; you only need your bank routing number and account number. (See "What is an electronic check?" below.)

What if my only credit card is a VISA Card?

We are unable to accept Visa cards. You can make payments online with the free e-Check option, come to the Business Office to pay by cash or check, or mail a check to: Business Office, 1247 E. Siena Heights Dr., Adrian, MI 49221.

Why is a convenience fee charged for credit card payments?

While credit card payments offer a convenient manner for students and parents to pay tuition and fees, the cost to the University for providing this convenience grew to an unaffordable level. The University decided to require those who want the convenience of paying with a credit card to cover a portion of the University’s cost of providing the service.

Can I still use a credit card at the Business Office or over the phone?

No. Credit cards will no longer be accepted at our office or over the phone. Credit card payments can only be made in CASHNet. You can still use your credit card at the Bookstore.

What is an electronic check (also known as ACH)?

An electronic check (e-Check or ACH transfer) is similar to writing a check. In My Account Balances in My Siena, choose the e-Check Payment option, choose the payments you want to make, then follow the Checkout instructions. You will need your bank account number and routing transit number (located at the bottom of your check), and this information can be saved for future use if you choose. If you do not save your account and routing number, you must re-enter it each time you make an e-Check payment. This option is entirely free to students and authorized users. (A link is provided during Checkout to provide help in determining your routing number and account number.)

Who can I authorize to make payments on my account?

Anyone you choose. In CASHNet, just set up a User ID and password for them and provide that information to them. This is set up in the E-Check option, but can be used to make E-check or credit card payment. Once that person has logged into CASHNet, he/she can change the password. This authorization gives access only to payment information; it does not allow access to any other student information. The authorization will remain in force until de-activated by the student.

Where do authorized users login to CASHNet?

A link for authorized users is available at https://commerce.cashnet.com/sienaheigpay?LT=P.

I don’t like making payments online. Can I still pay at the Business Office?

Yes. The Cashier will still accept payments by cash or check only.

Can I or my parents still call in and make a payment?

No. Payments will no longer be accepted over the phone from parents or students.

What if I have trouble with my CASHNet transaction?

Please contact the Business Office at 517-264-7110.

How do I know my information in CASHNet is secure?

CASHNet complies with all applicable federal, state, and banking regulations and is secured through VeriSign. It is compliant with both FERPA and Gramm-Leach-Bliley requirements. However, students should still use caution and follow these guidelines when using MySiena and CASHNet:
  • Set up a separate user ID and password for parents or other authorized users;
  • Authorized users should login only with their own user ID and password and should not use the student's ID and password;
  • Do not share your user ID or password with anyone else;
  • Do not leave your user ID or password where others can see it;
  • Do not leave your computer logged into CASHNet or MySiena when you are not using it;
  • Do not allow anyone to watch you log into or use MySiena or CASHNet.
